We have been made aware of a very disturbing video, which was shared by Armenian media today. Several days ago, two Azerbaijani servicemen went missing while on duty in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region - they had lost their way around the mountainous area during a heavy fog. One serviceman was found as he was looking for food and his way out of the mountainous area.

Today, Armenian media have
published a video of a violent beating of the
second Azerbaijani serviceman, whom they had captured, tied to the floor and proceeded to torture. The serviceman posed no threat and had his hands tied behind his back throughout the video as he was beaten. Our Azerbaijani Canadian community is incredibly disturbed by the video and the impunity with which the
violence took place and was filmed.
As a member of our Foreign Affairs Committee,
we urge you to strongly condemn this senseless violence and those promoting ethnic hatred that leads to this. The Azerbaijani Community had not heard any condemnation over the 30 years that Armenian forces invaded,
occupied and brutalized Azerbaijanis in their homes, ethnically cleansing 700,000 innocent civilians and forcing them to live in refugee camps. We hope to see an end to this impunity. For lasting peace, Armenia must agree to sign the peace agreement Azerbaijan has been offering based on mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.
